Sing a New Song

I do not think I would consider myself easy going when sudden changes occur. I mean when you spend days thinking, expecting, imagining, and dwelling on one thing that is going to happen and then within hours the plans change. That for me is a tough one. My husband does not understand why it is not so easy to say, "Oh, OK. Ten for dinner instead of six! No problem. That sound like more fun anyway." Or when your going to one destination and those in your vehicle want to stop at two or three other places on the way? Who does that? Yes, I know this does not sound very "Pastory" but it is the "Raw and Real" of life.

AND...our journey continues....

However, one constant in life that will never change, is the truth that change is ALWAYS going to happen! I mean, you can right it down, take it to the bank, expect it, and even predict it...change WILL happen...always. A good friend of mine once told me, control was a myth, it's not real, impossible to implement, and not worth my energy, emotions, and time. Yes, you must order your day aright so it is pleasing to the Lord; but, to think we can control others and outward circumstances - that will become our biggest downfall.

Psalm 40:3 King David said in the Psalms that, "He (God) put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD."

As a Christ follower, I want my life to reflect more of God's love and less of me, and for that call, I am laying down my visions, pictures, and expectations and trying through the grace of Christ to sing a new song when life or others throw curve balls my way. Practically how do I do this?

1. Purpose not to react.

2. Respond with silence.

3. Think "What is the worst that can happen?"

4. Take a deep cleansing breath.

5. Sing a new song, a positive song, an agreeable song, and a peaceful song.

6. Smile and expect great things because I have pleased my Father with a song of trust.

7. Write these steps down and post them everywhere I go for the next month!!

Happy transforming everyone.

I love you,

Pastor Mary
